Our Team

Chip Forsythe
Chip grew up in Dallas & studied winemaking at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. After college, he founded two wineries (Sexual Chocolate and Sunday Funday) and a cannabis company (Rebel Coast). He moved back to Texas at the beginning of Covid and opened Highbrow Lowbrow in March of 2022. He has a few side projects, but the most ridiculous one is focused on shipwreck exploration and cargo recovery.

What is
Highbrow Lowbrow?
The blue house was originally built on 1st street and moved to 3rd in 1948. In the 90's it was abandoned and the local riff raff converted it into their own little personal crack house. When we bought it in October, it was covered in graffiti inside & out. Four months later it was reborn as an East Side staple.

James Quigley
Arguably the fastest growing neighborhood in Austin, the eclectic eastside is where old meets new and fresh eateries and boutiques are popping up like wildflowers. We love how this area still has character and personality.

Jack Blake
"Meet Jack Blake, a sales professional who knows how to make connections and throw a great party. He's a man of many talents, from closing deals to sailing the seas as a captain for sailboats and yachts. He's passionate about Austin's thriving tech and culture scene and is always on the lookout for new opportunities to improve his own business and help others. But what really sets Jack apart is his sense of adventure. He's been known to ride turtle shells back to civilization, after being stranded on a deserted island in the Caribbean. With a story like that, it's no wonder they call him Captain Jack. He is always open to share a good laugh and a drink, so if you ever want to know more about his island adventure, or just want to talk business, don't hesitate to reach out to him."

Guterez Ortiz
Gutierrez (GT) was the very first employee of Highbrow! His hard work and attention to detail turned the outside from an abandoned jungle into the fantastic beer garden it is. He also turned the inside from an abandoned building into one of the coolest places to hang out in Austin. If you host an event here, you'll see him in action, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
